· January 2000—Tina Newton, a native Oklahoman, moves to Atenas.  Immediately, she begins placing volunteers from the United States and Canada throughout Costa Rica.  This continues for the next five years.

· January 2005—Su Espacio (Spanish for “your space”) is founded by Tina as a community space where existing teachers could rent space by the hour to provide classes in ballet, aerobics, Pilates and Tae Kwon do. 

· March 2005—In response to community requests, 8 English classes are added to the Schedule.

· May 2005—Rhythmic gymnastics, popular dance and Spanish classes are added to the schedule.

· October 2006—Su Espacio puts on the first Festival of Dance.

· January 2006—Tina is still placing volunteers, but now focusing more intensively on the greater-Atenas area, and placing volunteers with local familias.

· December 2006—Su Espacio starts collecting Christmas gifts for children through the Tree of Angels.

· December 2010—Breaking a new record, Su Espacio collects gifts for more than 400 children for the Christmas Season

· January 2011—Six years from its founding, Su Espacio offers around 30 hours of classes (always adding more based on demand), places over 100 volunteers per year, and contributes to several community events.
